Digicel Advances Growth Strategy with Sale of El Salvador Business
Transaction sharpens Digicel’s focus on its core Caribbean markets and supports continued investment and innovation
SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador - September 14, 2026: Digicel today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement for the sale of its El Salvador operations to General International Telecom El Salvador S.A. De C.V. (GITES), marking the latest step in the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its business, sharpen its focus on its core Caribbean markets, and invest in its strongest opportunities for long-term growth.
The transaction builds on significant progress Digicel has made under Group CEO Marcelo Cataldo to strengthen its financial and competitive position, including the successful refinancing of the business, an improved economic outlook, a ratings upgrade, and a renewed emphasis on innovation and investment.
With a stronger financial foundation, Digicel is focused on investing in the networks, products, technology, and customer experience that will drive its next phase of growth across the Caribbean, including continued investment in subsea connectivity, fiber expansion, and network capacity.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory authorizations, and we expect the transaction to be completed during the first half of 2027.
