Digicel Publishes Inaugural Sustainability Report
Kingston, Jamaica – August 19, 2026 – Digicel today published its inaugural Sustainability Report, providing a comprehensive view of how sustainability is integrated across the company’s business strategy, operations, governance, and long-term investments. The report reflects Digicel's continued commitment to building resilient digital infrastructure, expanding connectivity, strengthening communities, and creating lasting value across the Caribbean, Central and South America, and the Atlantic.
Building on Digicel’s longstanding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts, the report presents a broader sustainability framework that reflects how the company manages risk, invests for the future, and serves customers, employees, investors, and communities across the 25 markets where it operates.
“Sustainability is fundamental to how we operate and how we plan for the future,” said Marcelo Cataldo, CEO of Digicel Group. “Building resilient networks, expanding digital connectivity, investing in our people, strengthening governance, and supporting our communities are all connected. Together, they help ensure we can continue creating long-term value for our customers, employees, investors, and the region we serve. While this report highlights the progress we have made, it also establishes a strong foundation for the work ahead.”
The report demonstrates how sustainability is integrated across every aspect of its business, from network resilience and renewable energy to cybersecurity, workforce development, governance, and community investment. Key highlights from the report include:
Building a More Resilient Network: Digicel continued investing in network modernization, renewable energy, cybersecurity, and business continuity planning. When Hurricane Melissa impacted 644 mobile sites across three markets, Digicel's resilience framework was put to its most significant test. Advanced AI weather forecasting provided five days of advance notice to pre-position resources, while centralized coordination, rapid equipment deployment from the Panama Hub, and strengthened infrastructure enabled teams to restore service, modernize affected network assets, and build back stronger for future storms.
Accelerating Renewable Energy: Digicel expanded renewable energy deployment across its network through its partnership with Caban Energy, combining solar generation, advanced battery storage, and intelligent energy management technology. Fifty solar-powered mobile sites are now operational in Jamaica, with a long-term goal of solarizing 511 sites. In Haiti, 113 solar-powered sites are operational, reducing fuel dependency, and strengthening network continuity even during outages.
Expanding Digital Connectivity: During FY2026, Digicel added more than 111,000 new Fibre-to-the-Home connections while increasing LTE coverage to 91% of network sites, expanding access to reliable, high-speed connectivity for homes and businesses across the region.
Keeping Customers Connected Securely: Digicel achieved its sixth consecutive year of ISO/IEC 27001 certification, completed the rollout of its Group-wide zero-trust security platform, mitigated approximately 75 million attempted cyberattacks, and protected nearly 994 million network transactions each quarter.
Creating Lasting Community Impact: The Digicel Foundation broke ground on its 200th school project in Haiti, representing nearly $95 million invested and more than 1.3 million lives impacted. Across Haiti, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago, the Foundation has now delivered more than 2,900 community projects benefiting approximately 2.4 million people.
Developing a Future-Ready Workforce: Employees completed more than 62,000 hours of learning during FY2026 as Digicel continued investing in leadership development, talent management, and career progression. Today, the company's workforce represents 66 nationalities across 25 markets, reflecting the diversity of the communities it serves.
The report also outlines the governance framework Digicel established during FY2026 to strengthen sustainability oversight, including the creation of a Group Sustainability Committee and new policies supporting business continuity, health and safety, and environmental management. Together, these initiatives help embed sustainability into strategic planning and day-to-day decision-making across the business. Looking ahead, Digicel will continue building on this foundation by:
Expanding Renewable Energy Deployment: Building on the rollout in Jamaica, Digicel will launch its renewable energy program in Barbados, with a goal of solarizing 60% of mobile sites, while evaluating opportunities to expand the program across 14 additional markets.
Strengthening Sustainability Measurement and Reporting: Digicel will continue enhancing sustainability reporting and establishing formal performance targets to measure progress and drive accountability across the business.
Investing in Resilient Infrastructure: Digicel will continue modernizing its network, strengthening resilience against climate-related disruptions, and embedding sustainability into long-term business planning and decision-making.
