Digicel Launches Text and Online Donations to Support Hurricane Relief Efforts

Digicel Group Launches Online and Text Donations to Support Hurricane Melissa Relief Efforts in Jamaica
The donation program is the latest step in Digicel’s Reconnecting Jamaica efforts to restore service to customers and provide aid in affected areas
Kingston, Jamaica – November 12, 2025 –Digicel Group has launched an online and text donation campaign to support communities across Jamaica impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
For members of the Jamaican Diaspora and friends overseas, Digicel has launched an online donation portal where supporters can contribute between US$5 and US$1,000 using a credit card, providing a simple, secure way to support relief efforts from abroad. Digicel will also match all online donations up to a total of US$10,000.
Across the Caribbean, Digicel customers can donate the local currency equivalent of US$1 or US$5 by texting the dedicated donation line from their mobile phones. Customers in Jamaica not impacted by the storm can also participate. The donation amount is automatically deducted from prepaid credit or applied to postpaid accounts, making it a quick and seamless way to give back.
All contributions will go directly to the Digicel Jamaica Foundation to fund hurricane relief initiatives, including the distribution of essential items such as food, water, hygiene kits, solar lights, and other critical supplies to residents in the western parishes hardest hit by the storm.
“Digicel has always been about empowering our customers and connecting them to what matters most,” said Ana Rua, Chief External Affairs and Communications Officer at Digicel Group. “Through our online and text donation programme, everyone, whether at home or abroad, can play a part in helping families get back on their feet. Every text, every click, every act of kindness helps us reconnect and rebuild together.”

This initiative is part of Digicel’s Reconnecting Jamaica recovery plan as teams continue to work around the clock to restore services for customers impacted by the storm. On the ground, Digicel teams have already been distributing care packages, free data, SIM cards, and setting up charging stations to help residents stay connected.
Donation bins have also been placed throughout Digicel’s Kingston headquarters, allowing staff to contribute non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, clothing, and bedding to support those in need.
“We’ve been on the ground since the storm passed and have seen firsthand the devastation it has caused for so many families,” said Charmaine Daniels, CEO of the Digicel Foundation. “Now, more than ever, we need to come together to give back and help our communities rebuild. As the old Jamaican saying goes, ‘every mickle mek a muckle,’ which means every contribution, no matter how small, goes a long way in supporting communities in need.”

The donation programme will remain open until December 31st and may be extended as Digicel continues to assess ongoing relief and recovery needs. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps restore hope and rebuild the foundations of everyday life for families across Jamaica.
